We are a classic Vermont Bed and Breakfast celebrating over ten years of welcoming some of the most wonderful people from all over the world to our home, a home that has welcomed travelers and visitors for two centuries. A home that was built in 1811 as a Stagecoach Tavern, then purchased by my great-grandfather, Benjamin Nye, in 1867 and farmed. My grandfather and his siblings were raised in the house as were my father and his siblings. While it was not my residence, it has always been my “home”. My most wonderful memories were made here on the farm. It was a working farm, Guest House, and home to the Nye family until 1975 when it was sold. It was sold several times between 1975 and 1998. My husband, David, and I were able to purchase the house back on December 21, 1998 – Happy Day!
The house was not well cared for prior to our moving in. There were numerous windows and doors broken. A leaky roof caused extensive damage and garbage was piled high in several rooms of the house. We wanted to take care of a house that had taken care of us for so many years, buy mostly I wanted to give the house its dignity back. After thousands of hours of work, most of which we did ourselves, we were able to welcome our first guests in the fall of 2000. It was a proud and happy day.
We have grown yearly since 2000. We purchased the original barns and land across the road from the main house to put the farm back together. We built a beautiful little building that we call the Guest House and we renovated one of the existing buildings so we now have some Vacation Rental Units available. Something, we hope, to fit everyone’s needs.
The grounds of our property are filled with flowers. Our sheep, goats, mini horses and llama will greet you from the pasture. We have a lovely fire pit with a collection of Adirondack chairs for guests to enjoy year-round campfires, with sticks and marshmallows provided.
Whatever the season, there are numerous things to do in Jeffersonville and the surrounding area. Each season brings with it its own uniqueness with special things to do. We are always happy to provide guests with maps, guide books and help to plan a perfect day.
Dave and I love being innkeepers and look forward to the next ten years of welcoming guests into our home, and making new friends along the way. We look forward to sharing our home with you. You can rent one room, the second story or the whole house for privacy. Please refer to the rate link for rates.
